Consistent with our philosophy in the other areas of business, Mabey Support Systems recognised the
requirement for a design and build service for temporary works associated with building refurbishment.
Mass 50 and subsequently Mass 25 have
been developed by our experienced in-house engineering team specifically for the Building Refurbishment market.
This approach has ensured that the products are ideally suited to a wide variety of propping,
shoring and retention tasks.
façade retention
Mabey Support Systems has provided solutions to a wide variety of Façade Retention requirements
throughout the UK. We regularly produce and execute schemes in tight city centre situations where both space for
construction and accurate information regarding the existing structure are restricted.
Solutions are engineered to be least intrusive to both the public and the reconstruction of the building, external
cantilever systems can be portalised to allow pedestrian access through the frame, site cabins can be built into the
structure saving space on site.
Internal restraint systems including cantilever and plan brace can be built within the existing structures using our
Mass 25 and Mass 50 systems both of which have been sized to allow building by hand if necessary.
The successful execution of such complex temporary works that deal with aging often precious structures requires a
close working relationship between all involved parties.
Mabey Support Systems engineers are pleased to discuss specific requirements at planning and tender
stage and often develop exclusive schemes with clients which contribute towards a successful tender.
Alongside the major Façade Retention schemes, Mabey Support Systems provides the same proactive approach to smaller
needling, propping and general shoring requirements within existing structures. Works carried out include projects from major
multi-storey back-propping through to needling to allow the removal of load bearing walls and the formation of new openings.
We are able to provide hydraulic pre-loading to needling and shoring systems to control settlement of existing structures and
facilitate safe controlled load transfer into the completed new structure.
